Philosophy of life

Growing up on the east side of Houston provided a unique prospective about life and wealth for Stan. There was a solid middle class work ethic and a profound sense of community where many role models and mentors molded Stan's character into something more than the 97% of people living each day.  Working at Armco Steel in the summers during college showed him the value of education.  He had many encouraging supporters while he worked hard pushing a jack hammer or cleaning out soaker furnaces while training for sports in the off season.  It was a side of life most people have never seen.

He gained a great sense of values and a solid philosophy of life which he grew to appreciate more with time.  His wonderful family encouraged him to become all that he could be.  What a lucky person he was to have such an opportunity and a blessed life.  Having developed such a solid philosophy of life led him through a successful life journey he has enjoyed each day.

Prepare Yourself

At an early age Stan was fortunate to excel in sports and school and eventually attended Rice University on an athletic scholarship for four years and played football with quarterback All American Tommy Kramer as an offensive guard.  He grew from 225lbs to weigh 265 lbs. Those years became the highlight of his athletic experience. To play in the Southwest Conference was a truly rewarding time.  At Rice they were the underdog but they never gave up. He learned a lot about persevering through difficult challenges.  His senior year the offense led the nation and really put on a show with their passing attack.

Along with the rigid school standards, Coach Homer Rice instilled the value of a student athlete and stressed having a plan for your life and to live your life on purpose.  Stan still uses these principles in his life and business today.  Rice University is a great school and he completed his B.A. degree in Managerial Studies in 1977.  In 1989, he attended the University of Houston and received an MBA degree in finance in 1990.

In 2002 he earned the Certified Financial Planning™ designation which is the premier designation for financial planners. Requirements are to complete 30 hours of continuing education every two years and the ethical disclosures and standards are above all other requirements in the industry.

Experience in Many areas

After college Stan worked with Shell Oil Company and lived in Ohio, Illinois and Iowa before returning to Houston during the early 1980’s. He then worked for a private company which manufactured and leased oilfield equipment which was sold to TRW in 1982. They then became an environmental services organization where he learned about and worked inside refining and process petrochemical industries while managing industrial hazardous waste cleanup projects.

The Next Phase

 "Money Machine"

When I was just a child, my life was, oh, so simple.

And the ways of the great world seemed strange and funny.

Then when I was a young man, I learned of that machine

that turns out all those bails of precious money.

Money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money,

Ooo, that money machine.

From James Taylor

In 1990, with an MBA now in hand, he worked with Texas Commerce Bank as part of Chemical bank and began relationships with high net worth individuals in New Jersey and New York structuring transactions for the purchase of Refining and Petrochemical plants across the U.S. and Europe.  It was an exciting and rewarding industry.  Later in the 1990’s Chase Manhattan merged with Chemical Bank and he had endured five mergers; he continued completing transactions for two years until he decided to pursue other opportunities leveraging from the experiences he had gained from the time spent completing complex business transactions.

Bring Value to your Life

With a wife and three children he chose to follow his passion of helping other people organize their finances and simplify their  lives through financial planning. The first years were challenging but loyal clients and good service made the difference.  His practice is centered around Values Based Financial Planning™ a concept by Bill Bachrach.

The experiences from his corporate background have been immensely helpful to understand the investment world. He is aware of the challenges of retiring with a company today given stock options and retirement plans and how he can help others achieve their goals and objectives.

Having worked with the private placement side of banking completing transactions he has insight in the risks associated with investments of that type. Structuring transactions in the hundreds of millions of dollars based upon company projections helped Stan see the risks of many stock market dynamics.  That has helped his business to develop strict guidelines for asset allocation models to avoid unnecessary risk for clients.

 A True Belief in Planning

Stan believes in planning for your life as well as your finances.  He calls it "Living Your life on Purpose".  This makes it easy to talk to people  about how everyone should have a plan.  Successful people have plans which make them different from their rivals.  The most important thing is Stan is doing what he loves and believes in.   It is truly "All About You" and he strives to be a "trusted advisor" to serve only your best interest.
